Larry, How in the world are you? I was the guy who lost a day. We locked the door when we played the music over the intercom. I had access because as VP of the student body and Chief Nerd in charge, you may remember that I led the pledge every morning of our senior year (when I made it in time). So we put in the tape which you, Terry Simmons, and your cohorts provided and let it rip. They did a shut down of the office and held us in there. I was released to the custody of my dad, who I remember came in to school, interrupted from some meeting and dressed in his power blazer. He carried on the serious veneer of being concerned about our crime until we got in the car, and I explained the whole deal. He got it, and I got a day off. Still a vivid memory of grace. Jim

Gay, your guilty, who did you roll?

comment by Lynne Waller

Rick-We'll never tell....however, if any one of us had recently been "dumped" ('60s word) the dumper became the yard of choice.  I don't ever remember you being on that list, but some of your cohorts probably were.

comment by Phyllis Houston Teel

Jeff Avery where are you?

comment by Anne Green Hodges

Lynn Waller will probably win the prize for earliest friendship.  Mary Schultz and I were in first and second grade together at Westchester in Decatur.  I came to Thompson in the 3rd grade; I don't know where Mary went before she turned up at Briarcliff. But we're glad she did!

comment by Sondra Berse

This site is a blast to read. Everyone seems so excited about the reunion. Even though I was not at Briarcliff for long I have enjoyed reading about former classmates. I hope to stop by the pool party before going away for the holiday weekend. By the way Miss Spencer from Algebra is my next door neighbor. She is still a talker, sorry Anne...but what a wonderful friend she has become over the years!

I have met Rick tonight and wanted to post that Corky Corcoran was right. Our school colors have always been Blue and Silver, nothing else.I know you are going to have a great reunion.Horace

comment by Phil Houston

Hello Youngsters!  Well I figured that since I married a Baronette of the '68 class, Carol Tanner, and since my sister, Phyllis Houston Teel, is coming that means I can come too.  So we will all be there with a special guest appearance from the BIG CHIEF of the class of '65, Alan North and his wife Sheryl.

comment by Linda Bell

I'm currently living a little far to make the reunion:  Bangladesh, and moving to Cambodia in Sept.  I'm working for US Aid at the Embassy and it's hopping here in the third world.  Actually it's a really fun second career after I spent my first 30 yrs in D.C. working for the NEA, Smithsonian, and Inst for Museum and Library Services.  Working now for the poorest of the poor is quite a change, and for a break you get to hop off to Bangkok or Nepal and hike in the Himalayas, 45 min. away.  Bali for Christmas.   Does anybody do Facebook?  It's so high school, I figured we'd all be doing it.  Well, I've got more info and pictures there if anybody wants to look me up.It's been great catching up on everybody through these messages.  Tell the rest to keep 'em coming!  I am sorry I'll miss everybody in person, and thanks to all of you who are working hard on it.  Linda Bell (yep, still Bell. Never married but with a wonderful signif. other now.)

comment by Rick Waites

The reunion looks like alot of fun -- great job of putting it together. Life is great in the State of Washington so the distance will keep me from attending but I will be thinking of all of you. 40 years sure went by in a hurry !!!

comment by Mike Ross

40 years...hard to imagine.  I was glad to hear that the school board decided not to sell the schools to Sembler, I would hate for our reunion to become a wake.

comment by David Fussell

Look forward to our 40th reunion

comment by Jim Meek

Great to come across these plans! I haven't been able to make other reunions, but I hope to be there for this one!

comment by Ginnie (Taylor) Beard

How amazing....and so much fun reading about everyone. Thanks, Tricia, for getting in touch. Married 36 years  and still living in Greenville SC, though we endured 6 years of transfers from '99-'05. Now we're enjoying our first grandchildren - twins born in late April to our youngest daughter. Will look forward to seeing ya'll  in August.

comment by Molly Myers King

I have such wonderful memories of our high school years.  Those were some of the best years of my life.  I look forward to renewing old friendships and hearing about everyone's lives.

I can't wait to see everyone!  I live on Lake Lanier in Gainesville-have been here for 22 years-but still have lots of family in Atlanta and Decatur so I am there quite a bit.  I am no longer married, but I have great kids:  two sons and a daughter, all in college.   I stay busy substitute teaching, volunteering with Hospice and the Humane Society, ringing handbells at my church,  taking Zumba (Latin dance) and pilates classes and traveling as much as possible.   I spent my  working years as a real estate agent and later as a travel agent, but that was quite a while ago.  Thanks to everyone involved in getting this party started! I've enjoyed talking to old Briarcliff friends about the reunion and more importantly, about how much the high school years meant to us.  I really hope we'll have a good turnout!

comment by Barbara Gerber Nathan

Ricky, you did such a great job on this site! Do you want to do the same for us? It was great reading about everyone.  If you know anyone in the class of '69, send me their email address. I have become the "Keeper of all emails for the Class of '69".  We are planning our reunion for sometime in late April or early May of next year. You are all welcome to come.

comment by Mike Roberts

I am lookfing forward to seeing everyone.  My first son, Michael Jr., got married May 31, 2008.  For those of you who are TV buffs, he married Alana Del La Garza, Alana is currently the Assistant District Attorney on Law and Order, the show is the orginal Law and Order.  Obviously we are very proud, I hope she continues to be very successful so I can retire sooner.

comment by Bonnie Bowen

Hi everyone:  I just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU for the great responses that we have had in the last week. I can’t say “thank you” enough. The Reunion Committee has worked very hard to pull this together and to make this a big SUCCESS and the very BEST Briarcliff reunion!! It all started last August when several of us from Class of ’68 were at the Class of ‘67’s Friday Night Get Together for their 40th reunion and I started talking to several of our classmates about putting our 40th Class Reunion together. I was surprised at how many people offered to help and were excited!! The Friday Night Get Together that the Class of ’67 had was an absolute blast! It was so much fun seeing people that we hadn’t seen in 40 years and rekindling old friendships, not only with classmates from 1967, but also 1966 and 1968! We had our first meeting in November and we have been meeting every month since then. In fact, they end up being mini-reunions and we have so much fun talking about the things that we did, etc. Our reunion committee consists not only of myself, but Rick Corless, Lynne (Barfield) Waller, Jane (Wallace) and George Reed. Billy Pinckard, Bobby and Kathy (Reynolds) Poole, Lynn Farmer, Tricia Gaston, and Kathryn (Underwood) Hill.    So, now this is what I need from everyone. First, please send us information and stories about what you have been doing since graduation, send pictures of you and your family! We want to hear your stories and see pictures. Also, send us pictures that you have from elementary and high school. We will also be putting together a slide show for the reunion, so PLEASE send pictures, etc.    Also, if you are planning on staying at the hotel and haven’t registered yet PLEASE do so ASAP. Blocks of rooms are being held at a discounted price, but only til the end of July and then they will start releasing them.  RSVP for the events that you are planning on attending! There will be a tour of our old Alma Mater on Saturday morning, August 30th. Just in case you haven’t heard, there is a chance that the school and stadium could be demolished and this may be the last chance that you get to “walk the halls”, see your old classrooms, the gym (or what used to be the gym), our Senior Courtyard, the cafeteria. I will be your “tour guide” for this event and you will be amazed to say the least about what you will see!!!   Look at our “Lost and Found” section of the website. If you see someone’s name there and you know how to contact them, PLEASE do so and let them know about the reunion. Or, you can send us their information and we will contact them!! We still have a lot of people that we can’t find and really need help in locating these people.   Keep checking our website for updated news and event information. And, THANKS again to everyone for helping to make our 40th Class Reunion a big success and LOTS OF FUN!!!   See you at the reunion!!!   Bonnie Bowen

Hi, everyone.  I test software for a living and I have examined a lot of web sites in my time and there's something "fishy" about the www.briarcliff68.com site.  Everyone looks so prosperous, good looking, and thin!  I am starting to get suspicious.  And all these retirees...jeez.  I am still a captive in cubicle land in corporate America and retirement is still a dream.

comment by BRUCE NELSON

I HOPE TO SEE ALL OF YOU AT THE REUNION. I ENJOY READING ALL OF YOUR COMMENTS AND AM GLAD TO KNOW EVERYONE IS DOING WELL!

comment by Bill Bell

Wow, has it been 40 years?  Thanks Lynne for letting me know about this and Ricky and team for all your work to make this happen.  I married Janet Martens (BHS '67) when I was a senior at Georgia Tech and she has blessed me with 36 wonderful years and a terrific son who is now married and flying 747s for Cathey Pacific in Hong Kong.  We have one Grandson.  We have lived in Peachtree Corners for 30 years.  Janet job shares as a kindergarten paraprofessional and I sell greenhouses.  Hope to make the reunion.  Cheers!!

comment by Pamela Myers-Lewis

Hi, all! Linda Saye Karr sent me this link; how wonderful to know this is happening and to see names that--surprisingly--I recognize after all these years. I won't be joining you for the event; I live in Anchorage, Alaska, now and have for the past 12+ years. I haven't been "outside" (as we refer to anyplace not Alaska!) in several years. Love it here in the Last Frontier. Have a wonderful reunion and hoist one for me! Will be thinking of you all and checking back on the web site.

This website is great!! Hope our class gets this going as well. Alice Cowan McDougald forwarded it to me. We were in the class of '69. It's funny how many DeKalb County grads we come in contact with, I even married one 34 years ago, Druid Hills class of "66. (I still get mad when he calls us the "Briarcliff Bunnies".) Oh well, I'm sure none of you guys remember me, but I do remember a lot of you and just wanted to say hi and go to the reunion, cause you might not make the next one. Sounds like a lot of fun!

Wow!  Has it really been 40 years?  Hello to all my friends responsible for so many wonderful memories!  I am now living in Phoenix, Arizona.  I have been married for almost 39 years and have two wonderful children.  My daughter is 33 and my son is 28.  I taught at the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf, for three years, after graduating from Georgia State University in for three years and then became a stay at home mom for 18 years. After moving to Phoenix 13 years ago, I began teaching multiply challenged deaf students at the Phoenix Day School for the Deaf.  I have completed two Masters Degrees from Northern Arizona University.  Retirement is no where in sight for me since I love what I am doing!  My husband, Jack, works at the Phoenix Rescue Mission feeding the hungry and sheltering battered women and their children.  Life is good!

Hi everybody - I live in Lawrenceville with my husband of 29 years and 4 cats.  I'm a lawyer for the GA Supreme Court and have 2 kids - my daughter was Miss GA USA 2003 and lives in Atlanta, working for Turner Broadcasting, and my son has a PHD in neuroscience and works at the Med. Univ. of SC in Charleston.  No grandkids, much to my chagrin!   Can't wait to see everyone - thanks so much to the organizers!

I'm living just north of Briarcliff in East Cobb, with my husband of 37 years and two children, Ashley and Chris, ages 21 and 17.  I just logged onto to this site tonight (Thanks, Lynne Barfield Waller !).

I've been married for almost 32 years -- to the same woman. We have 2 children. Our daughter lives in Atlanta and practices law with me in Fayetteville. Our son just finished his first year of medical school at MCG in Augusta.  My mother continues to live in Leafmore Hills. I enjoyed the photograph of Mrs. Seagraves' 1956 first grade class posted on the website.  My family was impressed that I could identify several members of the class. I'm looking forward to seeing  all of you in August.

Hi everyone.  I stumbled on this site and was very surprised.  I live near Northlake and and happily married to Melanie Mulkey Long, a BHS grad of 1976.  I work in the IT field (geek stuff) and have been doing so for 25 years.  Hope I can make the reunion on such a short notice.  Looking forwarding to keeping contact with everyone.  I attended my wife's BHS reunion of last year at the school!  It still looks the same inside.  Remember the senior courtyard?

Wow!  Our 40th reunion @ Briarcliff High School---it doesn't get any better than that!  I've retired and now live in the N.E. Ga. mtns.  Life is a bit slower here--and that's good.  I work a bit with a therapudic wilderness program, but mostly enjoy this beautiful area of our state.  I so look forward to the reunion and reliving some of the good times we all shared.

comment by Jay Moon

This is Peggy's brother. Heard about your reunion from Rick and just wanted to say HELLO to everyone. I think I know about as many Class of 68'ers as I know from my own class (65). Been overseas for the past 30+ years..... living in Dubai, UAE since 97 so I don't run into many Briarcliff alumni's and haven't visited the old homestead in quite a while, but I suppose once a Baron.... always a Baron. Y'all enjoy the reunion.... it'll be an eye-opener... and lots of fun.

comment by Ricky Corless

Funny how things happen.  We invited our new neighbors to dinner Saturday night.  The dinner conversation took several twists and turns and Jennifer (the girl part of neighbors)  said her father went to Briarcliff (we had not been talking about Briarcliff, it just came up).  Jennifer is Jennifer Goza, daughter of Horace Goza (class of 64, I believe) and niece of Faye Goza (class of 67).  Got a story of your own?  Why not share it!

comment by Lynne Barfield Waller

Still living in Atlanta area and have been happily married for 38 years.  We have 2 sons, no grands.  We have a Christmas tree farm in Western NC and spend most of our spare time there.  We also are quite involved in our church and have fallen in love with missions - stateside and abroad.  Tommy's mom is the only remaining parent we have and she moved in right next door to us last spring.  It has been a blessing.  Look forward to hearing from other classmates.  This feels quite surreal!

comment by Phyllis Houston Teel

Yes, you found me, alive and well in Houston, Texas.  Look forward to seeing everyone soon.  Been married to same fella for 37 years.
